DSCF2661If I really push it, Winnie the Pooh’s hundredth anniversary is actually kind of related to art. The original sketches by Ernest Shepard for A. A. Milne’s stories are quaint and very, very different from the Disney cartoon. It was interesting to learn that Winnie the Pooh’s yellow colour was inspired by an existing teddy bear owned by Shepard’s son. Why am I reposting this? I am often asked about Winnie the Pooh, because he is named after my hometown of Winnipeg. A statue of the actual bear can be seen in Assiniboine park. and is one of many statues made by Leo Mol in the sculpture garden bearing his name. He is a legendary artist in Winnipeg.
