Since Wednesdays begin with a “double U”, I thought I would compare/contrast two things. Why? That is how my mind works sometimes. I go to a gallery and I cannot help but look at one thing and be reminded of another. The same thing sometimes happens to me when I listen to music. Sometimes it is just me; sometimes the world at large notices the same things.

I saw this painting of trees called Waldlandschaft mit Bach (1926) painted by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner in the National Art Center in Tokyo at a show featuring art from the Kunsthaus Zurich, and it reminded me of Emily Carr’s paintings of trees, such as Wood Interior (1932-1935). What do you think? Similar in spirit?
